How happy does Byron look as he trots up and down the weir? One of these days he might just make it all the way across! It's fine while the river is low but I am sure in a couple of months he won't be wanting to cross. It was essential to be by the river as much as we could today as the temperature was about 25 deg down at Kirkstall and all the dogs stayed in the water as long as possible.
The River Aire is teeming with wildlife, tiny fish in the shallows, larger fish out in the river itself with three cormorants spotted as we walked alongside, diving for those larger fish. Its great to see a river that runs through Leeds City Centre, as clean and as healthy as it is. We saw an ungainly heron trying to balance atop a large willow tree and a small gaggle of five Canada Geese, which Skye took an keen interest in but couldn't get near luckily.
As the day progressed and the temperature climbed, Kaiser, max and I stayed in the shade at Adel, carrying water with us to stay hydrated as most of the pools had dried up. Despite plenty of drink pitstops there were still lovely, lolling, pink tongues on display!
A BIT ABOUT ME......
