Here's Kaiser enjoying a dip in the River Aire. She loved her walk at LS4 today and met a gorgeous blue whippet, Bodie, who is only 8 months old. Kaiser is fast but Bodie managed to run circles around her and at one point leapt 3 ft in the air to jump over her, that dog is an athlete .
There is a certain etiquette to meeting other dog walkers that myself and many others follow. If you see someone with a dog on the lead you either get your dog by your side or pop them on the lead. Often we'll shout across to each other the reason why the dog is on the lead. In Kaisers case its sometimes because an approaching dog is small and looks timid and might not appreciate our big Shepherd girl running up to play at full pelt. Kaiser is a big softie but when she's running to you at full speed she can look intimidating, especially if you're handbag sized - we are trying to teach her some manners and learn to approach other dogs more respectfully - but its work in progress!
So today when I saw Bodie's owner popping him on the lead, I did likewise. We shouted across to each other why each dog was on the lead and after finding out its because they are both really playful and a bit eager then we knew they would hit it off - sure enough they did. Bodie wasn't the least bit worried about Kaiser's size and pelted towards her to play and she did the same, they didn't even really pause to sniff one another, they must have worked out they were kindred spirits! They got onto the important business of playing and living life to the full.
