Our lovely boarder, Scotch, left us this morning for his new life in Barcelona. It was a very sad day and I have felt quite out of sorts. He was like one of my own as he has boarded with us on and off since July last year on a very regular basis. And since New Year has been with us full time while his dad got everything ready so Scotch could join him in Spain.
We went and got his doggy passport sorted at the Vets a few weeks ago, he had his rabies vaccination and a health check and his boosters, all ready for his travels.
You might remember that Scotch was a street dog in Bulgaria and his dad rescued him about four years ago. He has had a lovely life with his dad and they are devoted to one another.
He hadn't seen his dad for two months until yesterday. It was a very emotional reunion and Scotch was absolutely overjoyed to see him again. I do wish I had filmed it, but it was a lovely private time for them both. Scotch was so excited and literally leapt into his dads arms.
It was bittersweet to say goodbye to him as he got in his transporter van this morning for the two day drive to Barcelona. He was travelling with his dad all the way so he shouldn't be too anxious. They will probably be in France as I type this, resting up for the night before heading into Spain tomorrow.
My two girls are missing him and keep pacing around, especially Otty as she loved Scotch and they often shared the sofa together.
Scotch is a wonderful character and I hope I get over to Spain sometime to meet with him again. We will miss him very much. He adored Kato and Byron and our walks wont be the same without him. We had some great adventures together.
So farewell my lovely Scotchy boy, look after your dad and we hope to meet again someday.
